Afternoon all,

I am in the fortunate position now to sell my current car due to no longer needing it. I have had a company car for a while and still continued to keep my current car an Audi TT-S.

However, I am debating the idea of selling it to buy something a bit more special to use at the weekends.

Anyone has any ideas?

- Something fairly quick
- Has a sense of occasion when driving
- Ideally has the potential to keep as much value as possible

Fuel economy is no issue as it will be driven for pleasure only.

Have been looking at the likes of:

- Lotus Elise (not getting much really for 15k) but they seem to hold value well.
- Impreza/Evo - Bit chavvy though?
- a Big V8 - why not?

Any ideas

TVR Chimaera, £15K will get you a very good one if you look close enough smile

Well regarded dealer car

Might be a good one if inspected properly by a recognised marque specialist

VX220 Turbo - you won't get a VXR for that money. They're gaining value a little now, and that budget gets a good one. Absolutely love mine.

The best Wide-track Impreza STI you can find. Buy a 2.0 (either a Blobeye UK car or a JDM Import of some flavour) which is much stronger as standard than the later 2.5. Very tune-able with internals good for 400bhp and gearbox for 600bhp. My preference would be for a visually standard car with some breathing mods and mapped by someone reputable.

You'll get a great one for your budget and you won't lose anything if it's maintained properly.

yes

Pure theatrics, incredible soundtrack, exotic and sexy. The definition of weekend car (though mine did come to work today and I'm still smiling now) smile

ETA: appreciating too, rarity and typically classic style means sound investment!

Westfield SEiGHT - mine is appreciating - stupidly low insurance and running costs and never feels to feel anything but special to drive

Noisy? I thought mine was quiet even with the roof down at high revs. It was still only on its standard exhaust though.

After I hijacked another users thread along similar lines you've got me looking at these quite a bit. What are they like to own? Are they decent on b-roads, i want to own a v8 daily/weekend car that will be as exciting as an mx5 but with the grunt the mx5 just doesn't have.

Another vote for the Boxster - early 986’s way under budget and look to have bottomed out

Or else an early 996 with the dual row bearing - pre-2000 escape the engine issues, 911 prices are increasing

Another vote for the SLK55 (if you want something more interesting than silver I'm in the process of putting my mystic blue one up for sale)

Alternatively, if you can live with LHD a C5 Corvette.
