check that a car has never been stolen

Hi, I'm about to push the button on an approved used vehicle. It comes with a vehicle check confirming that it is not stolen. However, I wish to check that the car has never been stolen. I recall from a past experience that there is one checking company that checks this extra step. Google hasn't helped with finding this company.

A number of years back I bought an approved used mini, which came with an HPI check that confirmed it was not stolen. Later, when I was selling, I agreed a deal with someone who later pulled out when he discovered that the car had been stolen and recovered. I was shocked. But I understand why he pulled out. I'd never wish buy a car that had been stolen and recovered. He sent me the report, but unfortunately I cannot find the name of the company that does this.

Any suggestions?

A proper HPI check will do the trick.

I'm not sure if you can check if it has been stolen then recovered without damage as that wouldn't be HPI recorded.

Just as you can't be sure whether a car has had accident damage.

I wouldn't be too bothered about a car having been stolen if not damaged.
