Just chosen a new Q5, it’s at a UK port but destined for a different dealer.

How often does a dealer refuse to release their car to another dealer? I guess it depends how quickly they themselves think they can sell it?

The A6 I have just leased was allocated to another dealer and at time of my initial interest was at Emden waiting on a boat to said dealers...... there was some delay in getting it swapped and was told they had to do a three way swap with a 3rd dealer to get a car that the destination dealer was happy with.

Apparently there is a team within Audi HO that liaise with dealers to sort these things out.

I really does depend on the dealer and the car but something like a Q5 can be easily replaced with something a little harder to find so as long as it has not been ordered as a demo or for a customer you should be OK.

Thanks. Surely if it had been ordered for a customer it wouldn’t show as available? Otherwise that would lead to lots of false hopes amongst customers.

You're right, as long as your dealer has a swap and the dealer isn't an arse you should be ok.
