Family + Dog 7 seater SUV for 30K / £500pm inc
Discussion
Hello all - first time post, please be gentle
Like many I am coming out of my company car scheme after 22 years. I've typically paid over those years £500-£600 net per month and thus I'd like to maintain that budget which I work out at around £30K over 5 years if I buy.
With a youngish family I want space for a 5 a-side team and a dog = 7 seater. Following the crowds I'd like a SUV. Contenders are imho really the X5 and Q7. The issue is finding one with the newness (<3 years, i.e. newish model), miles (<30K) and soundness for hassle free motoring we all want. [As you can imagine after 22 years in a company car I just about know where the fuel goes]. I could lose the 7 seats at a push - but really do want a large SUV.
Model options / Buy Used / Lease / thoughts all welcome.
I'm looking to chang over the end of June 2018.

I am in the same position, look at the last thread I created and you can see all the suggestions - most people mention the XC90 or Skoda Kodiaq.
I was fairly keen to own my car outright, however as I’m currently moving house I don’t have much enough cash available (how much is stamp duty!!!) - therefore I had to either borrow money from the bank to buy used or consider a new lease deal.
Anyway, I looked at the following:
Discovery 4, used at 30k
Discovery 5, new at 60k
Q7, new at 58k
X5, used at 30k
X5, new at 60k
In the end I decided on a brand new X5 40d Msport and get it next week. Whilst the car is lovely the main reason I chose the new X5 is because they are currently selling them with a 0% finance deal - which just cannot be ignored on a car of this value.
I obtained prices for all cars on identical PCP plans and looked at various funding sources to buy used and absolutely nothing come close to the value of the X5.
Admittedly it’s an outgoing model, opposed to very new models at JLR and Audi - but the 40d packs a bigger punch than all of them and the 0% finance made payments some £150-£200 cheaper per month!!! With a low spec car and hard negotiating you could probably get near to a monthly payment starting with a 5 on a 48month PCP with a very small deposit.
Drop me a PM if you want to know more about my deal and what to expect.
