Well I wasn't intending to change my car any time soon but I've saw a deal on a Grand Cherokee night eagle, basically its 25% discount on list (50kish reduced to 38kish) and 0% finance over 4yrs.

I've always liked the large yank SUV, this ones black/black/black. Looks really good.

Now, productions being halted on these due to emissions and everyone getting their nickers in a twist over bad diesel cars.

Road fund licence is 450 a year.

I'm expecting big bills on tyres and fuel.

A friend bought one around 18 months ago and had no end of bother with it, to the point of almost trying to reject the car.

Not really looking at anything else at the minute as a alternative but open to suggestions. I like the discount and the zero finance this is where the big jeeps difficult to beat.

Anyone got any thoughts on the yank jeep asides from the standard ph response of mx5, golfr etc

Colleague has recently got one. It has a problem with a voltage regulator and he has been waiting for over a month now for a replacement.

Don't know about the new ones, but I had a 56 plate WK GC Overland and I loved it.

If they have moved the game on since the WK then I don't think you can go too far wrong.

The aforementioned friend that has one also had a WK1 and had fond memories on it, I think that's what helped on the latest purchase. This WK2 however has started off bad with so many problems, maybe just limited to his car but I don't think they get a good name for reliability.

So the only person you know with first hand experience with one is a friend who has had lots of trouble with the same car. Plus you know that they are not the most reliable yet you are still considering buying the car?

A friend of mine bought a new one in 2014 to replace his ML500 that was falling apart at 6 years old and cost him 10k in repairs during the last year of ownership. He's now got 80,000 miles on the Jeep and has had no trouble whatsoever.

OK, I'm also thinking about a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

It's the 3L diesel I'm looking at. Local dealer only has the Summit model which is about £56k list. How much discount should I be looking for? There is a Jeep factory deposit contribution of about £8k but I really want quite a bit more than this.

There's a thread in the off road section on them now.

Quick search on Carwow threw up a discount of 24.5% if taking a 0% finance package or 26.7% for cash.
