Just wanted to get opinions - Wanted an M2 competition, as the Surrey dealers have lenghtly waiting lists, I approached the 3 main dealers in NI to see. They all wanted hefty deposits (£10k) but I ordered one regardless. Got calls from the 2 other dealers today offering me August Build slots. Do you think that there will be sufficient demand to risk ordering another one to sell on - My view is that it would pay for a carbon roof and the forged rims. RIKON in London told me that they got £15k over the asking price for one, but not sure if it's worth risking?

What I find hysterical is that rather than you place a deposit and buy a car greed steps into it and you want to make money on a build slot. Its not a fecking Ferrari its a BMW. As much as I don't mind people making money I really hope you fall flat on your arse with it. And you have two rammed up yer pipe. This reminds me of another tube that came on the forum flaunting that he had 2 build slots for a focus RS heritage and attempted to sell it for £3-4k. The M2 comp is a M2 with a revised M3/4 engine in it and different coloured seats from said car. That's it! This type of actions happened when the M2 first came out and some plonkers paid £60k for them. Look at what first issue cars are going for now. Same will happen with this.

I agree with the first reply i.e. as lovely as they are, you'd be a dummy to speculate on a M2 Comp.

My understanding is that buying a new M2 from factory always had a reasonably long waiting list, even in standard guise, because they are in demand but everyone who wanted one, got one, and I imagine it'll be the same with the M2 Comp. Also, the M2 Comp won't be a limited edition model but rather will become the de facto choice, in a similar way to how the M3 Comp and M4 Comp became the more popular model post their release.

It's been mentioned on the main M2 thread but I've been [reasonably] reliably informed that a number of people who had deposits placed for what they thought would be a M2 CSL have pulled their deposits as the M2 Comp didn't meet expectations. This was then confirmed again by a poster on the thread who themselves had pulled a deposit. Dealers will of course want to make it appear like the M2 Comp is impossible to get as, well... Dealers.

An ex-colleague of mine took a very, very deep bath on an M3 CSL whilst attempting what you've just described.

It's a BMW. It's not a 1M, it will be mass produced, albeit slower than regular non-M cars, but I doubt you'll see much profit

You'll probably make 5-7k over list if you're very early & have great spec, but timing will be the key too late a delivery & you'll be lucky to break even.

I wanted an M2 when they first came out, early premiums of 5k turned to premiums of 0 in less than a year IIRC. Today you can buy a pre reg delivery miles M2 DCT for 42k. Thats like 7k off or something. I'd be careful speculating. The new CS will be the standard model being produced not an 'upgrade' and I think reasonable discounting will return within a year or so.

Jeez, Some very harsh responses. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not a seasoned speculator, but surely there's nothing wrong with a genuine buyer seizing an opportunity. I know that there is a very limited window for this to pay off, and the only reason I've ended up in this situation is because I wanted to have one of the first M2 Comps in the UK and waved my cash under a dealers nose. I'll take my chances on the second one, if it doesn't pay off, I'm in for £3k, not the end of the world!

Dont think there is much money in this one.

I had a letter of intent in with a dealer, and had a call to say i could have a car for september, no stress.

Ill wait til Jan, order with a discount and get a car on a 19 plate. Simple.
