Long story short I purchased a 2012 golf GTi on Tuesday, now I've realised the electric windows do not work. Have checked fuses etc and are all fine.

Phoned the dealer and they've basically said it's not there problem. But they can fix them for a price.

Where do I stand with my rights here? I believe they should fix them as I was not told about such a fault before purchasing the car.

Great thanks. Will be getting back in touch with them tuesday then. Otherwise I guess I can use the right to reject within 30 days or something along those lines

I think you have legs to stand on if they did not point out the fault at the time of sale. As professional motor traders and experts, which you are not, and with consumer legislation you have some rights to fall back on. You may just have to have a bit of a fight to get it resolved.

However, I would also add that this highlights the importance of checking everything yourself in terms of functionality of all switches and toys, service history, visual inspections on the mechanicals etc, before handing over the money. If you are not confident take someone with you who is or commission a PPI through AA or RAC...small beer cost compared to uncovering nasty surprises down the line.
