The advert wouldn’t change your mind. It’s the old style A Class so not exactly a bargain at £1k Cat C.

No.

Mainly because it is an old merc A class.

Also, I don't trust sellers who hide the registration. I want to be checking the MOT history etc before going to see a car.

What is it about the A Class that appeals to you? Much better cars out there for the money surely?

Any £800 car is going to be a roll of the dice. Don't buy from a dealer - they will all be heaps at that price.

When you go and look at a car, if you don't know what you are looking at, bring a friend who does.

If they try to hide the MOT history, walk away. If there is no proof of any servicing in the past year or two, walk away.

That steering wheel is suggesting 285k, not 85k.

"Trade Disposal" is where I'd click off the ad. If you want a reliable car for £1k then why are you looking at old Mercs?

Ford Fiesta
Renault Clio
Peugeot 207
Vauxhall Corsa
Ford Focus

They're tried and true.

OP... Read this. Then read it again.

A £1k dealer car is a £400 private car. Any "warranty" will be practically worthless, getting any recourse from the 'dealer' in the event of a problem will be hard work, if not impossible.

Get realistic - any car at this price point is approaching the end of its life. Find a local car, private sale, that is being sold by someone who has owned it for a while.
Don't buy from a trader at this price point.

I'm sure you've had all this advice before yet still intent on buying a £1k cat c/d with no history from a driveway trader!
