08 Volvo S80 2.5T ?
Discussion
My father had a 57-reg one, 2.5 petrol auto. Bought new, had it for 10 years and did 130k miles. Other than the VED going up to £500 a year, nothing went wrong. It ate dipped headlight bulbs but in fairness they're running all the time and they're easy to replace - the whole headlight comes out by removing two prongs from the top.
Comfy and absolutely rock solid, he crashed his through all sorts of hedgerows and wildlife over those ten years and never needed any repairs other than one foglight. He even had his own trailer crash into the back of the car after he forgot to hook on properly, again virtually not a scratch on the car.
Refined on the motorway, 75mph was about 1800 rpm and on a long run could just about squeeze an average 30mpg from the trip computer. Eventually the VED killed it off for him and he got rid.

The manual is in a cheaper tax band.
Autos are sadly not.
If £500 pa doesn't put you off, there is a V8...
Manuals must be quite rare? I fancied a T6 but they're burdened with an utter dogs dinner of an auto gear box. I think it only has 4 gears as well..Autos are sadly not.

I was quite fond of my 2005 D5. Handled like a boat but it was comfy and fairly economical.

Seems about right for a 57 plate Petrol engine. Why do you think it isn’t?
