2006 Diesel Toyota Yaris
Discussion
My daughter has just passed her driving test and wants to buy a 2006, 1 litre, diesel, Toyota Yaris.
I’m not in the least bit clued in to the latest legislation/tax issues on old, little, diesels so can anyone tell me, in Janet & John terms, what the upside and downside of this will be?

It will be a 1.4 litre diesel, around 90hp, quite easily capable of keeping up with traffic on the motorway. We have a 2006 diesel t-spirit Yaris, we've taken it from 70k to 130k miles and it has been very cheap to run and reliable. Road tax for ours is £30/year. No DPF either.I’m not in the least bit clued in to the latest legislation/tax issues on old, little, diesels so can anyone tell me, in Janet & John terms, what the upside and downside of this will be?
I would say its a very good first car, but might not be the cheapest possible from insurance perspective for a new driver compared to lower powered cars. Worth getting some quotes.
