Struggling for my next car

Need some help, upcoming change in career means Skyline has to go, have exhausted all options to try and keep it but financially does not stack up.

Looking for something meeting the following:

£4k budget
RWD/AWD
Enough poke to make motorways relaxing
Would prefer Japanese/American manufacturers
Saloon or Estate, hatchback if needs must

So far I've come up with:
Cadillac CTS
Mazda 6 MPS (3 maybe)
Subaru Legacy (3.0R)

What would you all recommend out of the above?

Alternatives: 2.0 WRX Impreza or Merk C Class (2007 - 2014 vintage)

The boring waffle bit:
None of the above are really grabbing me, having to go from my dream car to something that I don't care about is getting me down. Also nothing has the fun/performance of the Skyline, everything seems very barge-like and not fun in anyway. Where I live I can still afford the luxury of going out for a sunday morning drive with none of the vauxhall dwelling oiks getting in the way doing 40mph so abit of cornering prowess wouldn't go amiss.

If money was no object I'd be getting a Toyota Chaser Touring V with has the 2JZ engine and four doors... but alas a good one is just over 3 times my budget
