Hi,

I currently have a Nissan scheme lease car which gets changed every year. Since being on it for the last 5 years I have had a mixture of Jukes and Qashqai.
The scheme has now been stopped and I have to find myself a new car by August but I have no idea what to buy. I'm hoping PH could bring some ideas to the table.

I need a family car with a bit of boot space but not an estate, fairly economical (poss hybrid), nice looks, few toys (cruise, A/C, Sat Nav etc) and low'ish insurance.
I don't need anything super quick as I have a nice little Elise in the garage for all that sort of driving.

I've tended to buy new before going on the lease scheme but I realise its a bit of a mugs game with depreciation as I get older and get more frugal. biggrin

Budget is about £22k.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Matt

Did you like the Qashqai? If so why not get another? Nearly new, within budget and has all the kit:

Or a Focus Titanium X? Top spec, well under budget with under 10k miles:

Seat Leon FR?

Or Lexus CT200h for a Hybrid option?

Thanks, I didn't think of the Lexus. That's a good call. I was thinking Toyota C-HR but they are supposed to be very claustrophobic in the back. The Lexus is probably the same thing underneath.

As for the Qashqai I have had 2 of them already so I wanted something different.

The Seat is a good call too, may go and have a look at them.

The Ford I've never really been a fan of them. I'm sure they are a good car now but just a bit average.

Interested to hear the Nissan scheme has ended (I used to work for them). Are they offering employees anything else in lieu?

As for your requirements, the new Auris looks quite nice. Not sure if it's going to be on sale by August.

There's also a new Kia Ceed that ticks your boxes, and would come with a 7 year warranty.

Alternatively, Honda Civic if you like the looks?

Thanks for the ideas. I don't actually work for Nissan I work for Red Bull Racing. The Nissan employees are still getting the deal from what I'm aware.

I didn't realise there was a new Auris coming out, i'll take a look to see what it looks like.

Not a fan of the massive grilles on the new Civic, looks a bit naff.

I had looked at Kia but not sure about the cheaper end of the market for residuals.

The S60 is nice. I like that.

As for the Jags, what are they like for servicing costs? I imagine they are higher than the average car?

Kia Cee'd GT Tech These are great cars & will have 4-5 years of Warranty left.

They're really a good family car & with the added bonus of coming under budget you'll have the peace of mind of the Warranty.

The Volvo will be no cheaper to service than the S60 so bear that in mind before discounting the Jags.

Sorry can't comment on that. Mate has a manual XF as a company car but has no idea how much servicing is.
He just drives it and puts fuel in.

It is a nice place to be though.

Can't imagine it being hugely more expensive than a Volvo to service and run especially the XE.
