A mk1 MX5 was a good shout for me.

Members club means insurance is ok, fun can - although some on here hate them hehe

Easy peasy to work on too.

Why not,if you afford to buy and insure ?

Much easier to work on if you're handy with spanners,or a welder.

Parts can be pricey though ,cos old Ford tax.

+1 for the mx5. I think at your age you'd have more fun with it. Lots of parts & different looks modding wise too. Great car.

Many classic policies will only insure it as a second car, and will not cover commuting. I'm surprised they even quote for a 17 year old.
