I am looking at purchasing a Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost. The car will be between a 2012-2014 model so the MK3 model before the facelift.

Anything to look out for ? There are loads for sale so I’m spoiled for choice. I will be getting one with the appearance pack as a bare minimum.

The other option I have is the 1.6 what do you guys reckon ?

Just leased a focus 1.0 140 st line x model for just over a total of £5k for 2 years (£600 upfront and £200 a month). Full warranty, tax included and no need for mot. Maybe worth thinking about, especially as lots seem to have issues around 30000 Miles.

Rivervale. Nationwide vehicle contracts are also doing them for a similar price (within a few £) free metallic paint as well. Thought why not, seems one of the best deals out there for a Focus/Astra/Golf size car.

Were there not lots of the 1.0 ecoboost engine going pop? I may be wrong but seem to remember a thread on here a while ago about it?

From reading this thread there seems to be an issue with coolant leaks, if not detected the engine blows. Regular checks and you’ll be fine.

All seems to happen after a few years. That’s why I thought lease for 2 and have warranty as back up.
