Ok. Query as per title.

I currently run a nissan navara with a truckman top so have acres of space for loading up a large drum kit etc. But for everyday use it's a bit ridiculous and it's also getting on a bit.

I want to replace but struggling to find anything with a decent load capacity. Would prefer a hybrid and will last for the next 10 years or so.
Did think about Mondeo estate but hybrid only available in saloon version (why), also considered Skoda Octavia estate, but again in both cases may struggle with capacity.
Also needs back seats to fold flat

Budget about 15k. Needs decent performance but I have a toy for run outs so don't need hyper performance just not to be embarrassing at traffic lights

Any ideas?

Thx

Forget the performance aspect wink

What you need is a day van. A Bongo/toyota/nissam or similar, also has a bed for when you get all those groupies wink

Well when I say forget the performance I mean I don't need 300 bhp.

As for groupies I'm 56 so not sure I'd remember what to do if I got any!

You could have a really nice Transit Connect for that money. Is this for business use? Claim VAT back etc

I have looked but they aren't recommended if you do regular long journeys (I regularly travel North Wales to Essex and vice versa) and a standard hybrid is supposedly a better compromise?

Auris Hybrid Estate? Not sure if it would be big enough for all your kit though

If you are set on a hybrid how about a lexus RX400h or the newer 450h. Not the biggest SUV in the world but a nice tall load space which will be handy for the drums.

If the Octavia wasn't really big enough you are going to struggle unless you go for a really big estate, the boot on the superb isn't that much bigger (although there is a lot more room in the back) an e-class again isn't substantially bigger, and I would have thought the 5 series may even be smaller. (Stats may suggest there is quite a difference in size but reality is there isn't in my experience)

I guess a big Volvo (V70) an MPV or an SUV would be the only sensible choices left but you have to sacrifice the hybrid part. You could get a Land rover discovery3 in budget quite easily and they are meant to be huge inside. Or as already mentioned a Ford s-max is meant to be a good drive and can be got with a 236bhp ecoboost engine. Again bigload bay and loads of space with the seats down
