It’s always a gamble with a used car.
The engine might go to 500k+ miles if well looked after and you’re lucky.

You should get your money's worth from it. Even better if it's had new fly wheel and clutch.

I wouldn't want to pay that much for one on that mileage.

Google "BMW N47 camchain" and you'll see what I mean!

It's a great engine when it's working, but by the time my 123d got to 81K miles I bailed out of it!

My 2006 320d just went past 230K

At your mileage I'd expect the turbo to have been rebuilt or replaced.

in the last 50K I've replaced the DMF, Clutch, MAF sensor, tensioners.

It will keep going as long as you do frequent oil changes

Last time I checked the MOT history of my old 320d (registered December 2005) it was still going at 250k - I had it from new for about 4 years to 110k and it seems to have kept chugging quite nicely since - £3k does seem a little steep though

Surely the 2006 car has the M47 engine, not the later troublesome N47?

Engine should be fine if it has been looked after.

Clutch and flywheel on these are known to start going around this point, the gearstick should have no vibration, if it has you could be spending a grand pretty quickly.

Ask if it has been done already.
