When you say under £300 per month, how much deposit are you looking at putting in?

its surprising common for people to only focus on what is fastest.

to me the question is no different to when you are younger and the question is "whats the fastest car on X insurance group or lower"

if you just need a 1 trick pony to brag about 0-60 times then anything VAG, with a DSG and four wheel drive will do it.

Define "fastest".

As others have said, if you just want to boot it from traffic lights or boast about 0-60 in the pub then any DSG 4wd VAG car will be the answer here. However, fastest from point A to point B will be a different answer as will fastest for overtaking/rolling sprint from 30 to whatever.

I had a leased Golf R and now have a leased Cupra (both well under £300pm). The Cupra is quicker and slightly more enjoyable on a B road and also nips the R for acceleration on the roll.

Leasing has really dried up right now. There's too many cars now being discontinued temporarily for the new emissions criteria. This means that manufacturers will need to shift existing stock and potentially quite cheaply.

I have seen some deals on the M140i and the Golf R, but they work out amortised closer to around £350, obviously depending on the mileage and the initial payment profile. Just saying under £300 pcm is a bit pointless really.

Probably a useful question for the OP to answer. I imagine if you put in a big enough deposit someone would lease you a 911 GT3 for £299 per month...

Agree with this, I don't think we will ever go back to the fantastic Golf R/GTi deals of a couple of years ago but even six months ago there were some good deals to be had.

The fastest car for under £300 a month was probably the Seat Leon 300 deal I saw for £269 a month with a £269 deposit.

I don't think Seat are taking any orders on Cupras until next year now. Any deal will be a stock car. Some people that have ordered 300's are being given 290's.

How are they giving them 290s? They've not built 290s for about a year now. Are they giving them used cars?

Orders will be open in mid August.

It appears that the leon cupra hatch is going back to 290 after the summer shutdown due the the new emission laws. I have no idea if it will be keeping the 300's 280 torques or will be reverting back to 260 again. I think the manual is dropped too.

£229 + £5500 down.

Do you judge cars only on performance figures? If so, buy a golf R and stop calling yourself a car enthusiast.

If you put a big enough deposit down you can have most cars for £300p/m
