What would you do? 10k Budget for a daily, 12k miles yr
Discussion
Hey all,
I have around 10k to spend on a new daily. I have had the same car for 10 years now (im 30) and its done very well to be fair (Fiesta 1.4 Petrol 2008 plate 170k miles never had a fault)
I want something that i can have fun in but also that can get decent mpg on a long motorway run. I do go up and down the M1 a lot.
To be honest i havent even looked at the lease / pcp option yet.
Sorry if this is vague but i really have no clue on what to get. I do like BMW's though!
When i say fun i dont mean massive power, probably something 2l + Turbo?
Or do i get two cars, a daily small engine petrol and an older higher powered car for the weekends? i am really torn on what to do!

2 cars can seem like a good idea but I find it annoys me paying 2 lots of insurance, tax, MOT etc. I can only really tolerate it if I really love one of the cars .
I'd say get yourself a 6 cylinder BMW. The older
(05-12ish) NA 3l engines in the 325i 330i 125i 130i and z4s are very reliable, economical and just generally nice to own. I wouldn't buy a 4 cylinder 2l petrol BMW of that era. They're just a bit slow and rubbish sounding and offer zero benefits over the 6 cylinder engines.

Very well they're every bit as robust as anything else out there they're a decent drive to & the engine has some decent character too.
From the list above I'd go for:
1) The Megane (the best steer of the lot) & the Recaros make the final difference
2) The Giulietta (if your looking for Golf dynamics with a bit of added character) the engine & it's a nice place to be
3) The ST-3 Focus (bags of character the engine is a peach but 27mpg vs 30+ for the others) This is the one I bought
Of the VAG cars:
R32
S3
GTI
Leon
