Going to look at both of these tomorrow morning.

Cooper S (JCW)
https://www.alantullycars.co.uk/used-cars/mini-hat...

Corsa VXR
https://atcars.co.uk/vehicle/name/vauxhall-corsa-v...

I think Iv read too far into the opinions on corsas. Not going to lie, the piston 4 and gearbox issues on em worry me. Those recaro seats make me weak at the knees though. I am yet to test drive one to get a decent opinion myself.

Iv owned a cooper S previous, of which was wrote off, loved it, handling speed etc, but do I want to get the same car again? My previous mini was a 2011 cooper s with the later engine (190) where the issues where sorted and higher spec and all the ones I find locally in my price range are the earlier ones (170bhp) and high mileage.

Love to hear everyone’s opinions on which they prefer/ would get themselves. Also what I should look out for on the mini if it’s JCW upgrade is fake or not.

PS, don’t convince me on Clio’s, don’t fancy anything French, and a focus ST or Astra Vxr will be a pain to run daily.

Thanks

2007 JCW was dealer fit. Without paperwork and engine bay shot it’s hard to tell.

Not sure the Mini or Corsa will be much more reliable, both have issues. If you want a hot hatch with some reliability then look towards a Civic Type R

+1 to the above, doesn't that age of Mini have the PSA 1.6T engine which was supposed to be a bit of a dog.

All cars can be unreliable, the number 4 piston issue is more to most people not letting the engine warm properly before driving hard.

Out of those two I'd take the Corsa, but I'd probably buy one of these two instead:

I'd haggle over the alloys & get at least the cost of a refurb off on the car below.
