Hello all, sorry for my rude absence but I have been extraordinarily engaged with work.

I am currently considering adding a small SUV to the family fleet. I am leaning toward the RR Evoque. It's heaviest work would be towing my boat, which is well under the vehicle's stated tow limits. Anyone here own one or have an opinion they would care to share. Thanks in advance.

This is where numerous uninformed PHers tell you how awful and unreliable they are. Have fun sifting through all the noise. thumbup

Long time since I've seen your name here JB, welcome back!!

My wife has an Evoque, it's 6 months old and has been in the dealership twice so far (engine & gearbox issues respectively).

To be fair, they have sorted it without question and as quickly as possible (under warranty) but in an ideal world I would have hoped not to have those problems.

Comes down to a single question really: Does your partner want to run about in a "fancy" car?

If yes - buy the Evoque, it will do everything you want it to do.

If no - buy a Landcruiser, half the price and several times more reliable.

Sorry for the thread derailment, but can you tell me where I can buy one of these Landcruisers for £15K, new?

Good to "see" you again as well Ozzie.
I myself do like the feel and look of the RRE. My wife is more flexible. You are correct though, I can find a Ford Explorer for less money and more reliability. The new RR Discos even seem to be a more sensible move. This is going to require some slow pondering.

We’ve had 3 of them so that probably tells you what we think of them! We went from a Pure to a Dynamic and now have an Autobiography.

We will be selling soon but only because the boot isn’t big enough for requirements now.

They’ve all had their issues but under warranty it doesn’t really cause a huge issue. They have that Range Rover feel to them without the sheer size which appeals.

Fuel economy is nowhere near the claimed figures but if you go in knowing it’s not a problem.

Feel free to drop me an email if you’ve got any specific questions as happy to help.

The Evoques are good cars & well worth a look, I'm not sure of your budget these are a very good option: & well worth a look if you want a good towing car that's also nice inside.

Pdavision and 10R, I appreciate your offers and input. As I'm a colonial living in Louisiana, I will have to look to local inventories. PD, I may take you up on some internal questioning. Thanks all!
