After an aborted attempt at replacing our family estate we are now looking at doing it in the next month. My wife is fairly keen to get a petrol although we estimate our mileage will be between 10k-15k. We would ideally like an auto, probably around five years old or so. We are thinking mid sized estate so C-Class size but could go a little bigger but not much smaller. We are near Bristol, and ideally don't want to travel for long distances to grab the new motor. I would not want any new car to have done massive miles, as we would probably keep for the next 5 years or so, around 60k of thereabouts. We would be getting a loan, so we are thinking 8k-12k.

Finally, after much looking there are not loads of petrols to choose from unfortunately. I have narrowed it down to a few local examples; a Ford Mondeo (Titanium), Peugeot 308 (Puretech) and a C-Class (1.6 AMG sport).

I am thinking I maybe missing something obvious so if anyone has any other suggestions they would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Look at Volvos. The V70 is at the larger end of the scale, with V50s at the smaller. You'd be surprised how often the answer to an estate question is Volvo.

It probably won't be big enough for you but have a look at a 1.2 tsi Fabia estate.

12k will get you a nearly new one.

The Monte Carlo models add some nice touches that make it easier to live with for what would otherwise be a very boring car.

They drive that well im finding myself using my wife's car more than ever.

Try to find a 110bhp one rather than the 90

V50 T5 2.5T auto....

Thats the engine shared with the Focus ST in those so they can GO (and easily tunable)

Very rare and unlikely to be local.

We had an Audi A4 2.0 turbo petrol avant for 5 years and now a current Skoda Octavia 2.0 turbo VRS petrol estate. (I think the skoda is a much better car). I think they do the octavia with the 1.4 act 150 petrol which is a very good engine.

Honda Civic estate? Not exactly a looker per se but auto & petrol and in budget and a massive load area from what I recall, just a thought - good luck with whatever you go for smile

And on the Mondeo 2.5T. Even rarer in estate trim + reasonable mileage. Great cars though. Be aware with regards to tuning that they have liner problems. Later Focus STs and RSs sorted the issue.
