Realistic discounts
Discussion
I was after a little advice from the masses.
I am looking to buy a Peugeot 2008 as my sister has decided its the thing to have as she and her partner recently had their first child. They have asked me to help them find one as they "know nothing about cars"
I want a petrol and something fairly new. There are a number of them locally between 8 and 9.5k at dealers. Some independant dealers and some of the supermarket style ones.
Realistically what sort of discount could I hope to achieve? Im guessing the supermarkets don't move at all but would independants?
If its unlikely to move at all i need to look at cars lower in the range but if there is some movement i can go and look at the slightly better cars without wasting the dealers or my time. Want to get something this weekend.
Thanks all

Look an autotrader to see what the bottom end of the market price looks like. Either have a local dealer match it or if they won’t, travel to buy the cheap one if the saving is worth the hassle and expense of travel. And you will likely need to pay screen price on the cheapest one. You aren’t “losing” if you are paying bottom end of market price at full screen price. The answer can depend on how this car is being paid for and whether there's something being traded in as well. I don't ever expect much of a discount on a used car but I will generally always ask for around 10% as it's all part of the fun.
So you want £800/950 off... Good luck..!Paying cash but also have a trade in - WBAC offer 2700 for it so that's a target price.
Not expecting huge amounts - I was looking at stuff upto about 500 quid over budget thinking that either with a bit more on the trade in or a bit off the car we could get somewhere,
Ill report back!

WBAC Computer may say £2700.. But turn up in it and that's when you'll know it's true value...? + their addmin fee's on top... So today put down a deposit!
When I saw my sisters car realises it’s quite well dented and scuffed!
Still got the dealer to come up 300 quid on the trade in value and down 300 on the sticker price of the car.
Was happy enough with that and the dealer has said that if we can sell the trade in for more in the meantime he would honour the deal - clearly doesn’t want the trade in!
