In search of a new motor - replacing an E39 530i Sport

I'm in the process of selling my 2002 E39 530i Sport as I'm hankering after a bigger barge again (previously had x2 E38s and another 530i) and fancy going back to another 7 (E65 variant) or possibly an E61 530D/535D touring)
I don't need a diesel (re the E61) but for the spec I'd like, the 530Ds and 535Ds seem to tick a lot of the boxes. It will get a blast down the M6 twice a day from training and back (a 20mile round trip all in) and I've contacts that can make sure that the engine is very well looked after and any mods will be done (swirl flaps etc) and on the back of that; I'd probably look to get it re-mapped also
Similar case with an E65 730D - there are a few local to me that look to be very well maintained and have a good spec
However I am considering the E65 750i's as well, always wanted a V8 and now might be the time to scratch that itch... Would love an E63 650i, but not sure I'd cope with only 2 doors and 4 seats. We've no kids, yet, but I do wonder if it'd prove to be a pain to sell on also!
So; what I'm looking for is feedback from those that have owned any of these cars and recommendations also
I want to stick with BMWs I know them well and to me, they tick a lot of boxes etc
Budget is anywhere between £4k and £8k, ideally middle ground so I've £££ left to do any necessary work, or change things such as refurb alloys, new tyres, improve Bluetooth/music connectivity etc
Thanks

If it helps. A mate had a 645 convertible & when he tried to sell it couple of summers ago it was a major pita.
Lots of ‘what’s lowest price bruv innit’ type calls, a few tyre kickers & finally ended up putting it with BCA.
He had good history with it, knew 1st owner too. All issues they were known for were fixed & it had sensible miles.
BMW were doing deals on PCP at the time & the deposit was in the same ball park as what he wanted for his I believe.

Yeah; that's my concern, struggling to sell it on! More so a big V8...Lots of ‘what’s lowest price bruv innit’ type calls, a few tyre kickers & finally ended up putting it with BCA.

Think I'l give them a wide berth and try and find a decent 530D/535D touring or an E65 730D or 750i
I'll keep looking and will update

Selling a V8 can be a pain but there are lot of people that will buy them the BMW V8 with it's potential valve stem seals & cam chain issues means they're hard sell on if you've not had the work carried out.
Saying that 545/550i's seem to sell well when they appear on the market:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-545i-M-SPORT-4-4/25...
I know you said you're not interested in a Mercedes but I would say go & look at a CLS/E 500 the drivetrain is bulletproof & they sell well later down the line.

I will say 7/S Class size cars are harder to sell.

Never owned one, have no experience with them at all and don't know anyone that knows Mercs; so as previously said, I'm sticking to BMW
