"Fast' 5 doors,fun, semi reliable
Discussion
Evening,
Looking at something family car wise, reasonably fast, 5 doors, fun to drive. Not worried about mpg within reason.
Looking at scoobys focus st's etc.
All seem a bit boring and chavvy.
Any ideas?
Budget would idealy be 5K but would stretch to 10K if amazing.
Petrol and manual only.
No barges, already have a barge!
Cheers
(Edited to add, already owned cupra r 225,golf mk6 edition 35 gti,e46 325i saloon,mk4 golf gti so don't want any of those!)

Try a Legacy, the grown-up brother - especially the Spec B. Might be too bargey for you, but available in UK 3.0 flat 6 242bhp or JDM 2.0 turbo 280bhp (for the manual) flavours. Is not at all bargey to drive! All seem a bit boring and chavvy.

Not that I am biased

Rx8?
The doors appeal to me, could I fit 2 child seats in? That is the question, also moving the car around the crap parking outside, need to look up about the flooding
I had (just the one) baby seat in back of an S13 200SX for a year or two, no problems

Yes! Rx8 would be superb and cheap as chips to buy. Get the newest car you can afford. Tax is 500 and fuel and oil costs are well documented. My own 5 grand would go on a vrs and a remap for over 200bhp, tonnes of space and 40mpg on a run.

They are both great cars. It depends what impreza you are looking at. Probably not STis at that price unfortunately.
Looking more towards a wrx than a sti, everyone keeps telling me how stiff and uncomfortable they are though, I've owned a seat leon that had rockhard suspension (suspect aftermarket) and the recaro seats had no lumbar support and I would get a dead lower back after about 10 minutes of driving. They do a wrx with leather and heated seats I have been told too, have yet too see one though?
