Hi all,
Have £30k budget to get a daily - will be used mainly for day to day driving, mix of types (12k pa) alot of urban driving.
Previously enjoyed the most a C63 AMG (6.2) so something along those lines prefered.
Must be reasonably comfortable, but fun. I'd like to minimise depreciation too if possible
Considerations:
Another C63 (possibly a 507)
Macan
M4 (early one)
BMW M2 (would have to raise budget slightly)
BMW 440i / 240i
BMW 430d/435d Xdrive
Golf GTI/R
Would love some ideas!

Do you need 2/4/5 seats? Seems as though you like the German brands but could be pushed to get a Jag. For sub 30k there is a lot of choice. Can get the Merc 5.5 E63, F10 BMW M5, Audi C6 RS6, Jag XF-R for the bigger saloons. C63, M3 and M4, RS4 for the smaller coupe/saloon. Sports cars could be a Z3M, Z4M, TT RS, XKR.
All pretty powerful beasts it just comes down to your taste.

M4 is actually where i'm leaning at the moment. Went to look at one this morning but was a dog.
I only need 2 seats really, but an extra 2 in the back always useful. E63/M5 i hadn't considered but good ideas.
RS6 i've had one, and thought it was dreadful. C63 i loved, unsure i'd want another though seems better to try something new?
And would not want sports car as a daily so rules out 997/TTRS etc (although could be tempted into an F Type!)
Probably between M4 or C63 with outside chance of a macan (odd choices i know!)

You are more than welcome. Seems as though you prefer the coupe/smaller saloon cars which is a good place to be. Though if you are thinking about an F Type then you are in the same boat I was in all be it with a slightly bigger budget than I. I was thinking C63, the V6 F Type, XKR and the TT RS. Ultimately went for the TT RS as I fancied something a little bit sporty and different. So many C63's out there which will hurt resale value come a few years when I decide to sell. Also the TT RS can be chip tuned to gain massive amounts of power for not a lot of cash. As for that launch control...... I will never tire of it on the occasion I use it M4 is actually where i'm leaning at the moment. Went to look at one this morning but was a dog.

Horses for courses and all that but why not test drive a bunch of them and see where you stand?

Sounds good! Yeah i'm very tempted by an F Type, really must drive one to see if its a realistic day to day proposition

Hmmm.
Just looking at 2012/2013 Cayenne GTS... 4.8L V8.
My choices seem odd so i'll try to explain.
Needs to be comfy and effortless day to day (probably actually rules out the M4/F Type?) - the C63 i had was great for that - perfectly enjoyable in traffic lazing around but then rapid in S+ mode. Alot of town driving in traffic / rain hence the couple of SUV choices in here...
So a macan turbo / cayenne gts probably fits the bill. I'm in a range rover sport now which is fantastic but no performance.

For town driving any auto surely would be ideal? Modern cars are really versatile so town driving shouldn't be too much of a problem in any of the choices stated. If you have the Range Rover already then maybe no need to get a Cayenne if keeping the Range Rover? Personally in that situation I'd go for the sportier cars to get that massive grin factor
You seem like you are pulling for the F Type. Definitely take one for a test drive but if you're anything like me if the car is a very tidy example you'll end up driving away with it that day ha.

If I had to be more sensible then I'd be looking at an Evora:

Budget's probably a few thousand short for a good one of those.
Interested to see Macan on the list - didn't know you could pick them up for £30k now. Might start browsing myself!

Some great deals to be had if you shop around and aren't in too much of a rush - just make sure that you get an appropriate cover/warranty as an engine failure will set you back c. £15k.
Usual split between going Approved Used for reassurance or saving some cash by going private.

I'm biased, obviously. But if you're considering a Golf R, a TTRS should be in there. It's just better (except for carrying as many adults) and a tuned version is in another ballpark altogether.

Spot on. Funnily enough I'm pretty biased too. Though I have found out you can carry an adult in the back behind the front passenger. Not behind me though. Just no way.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
