Love vintage American cars so I'd go for the Corvair.

If the debt thing's a problem you could rent it out for weddings and such like and it'll pay itself off! That's a man maths win in my book.

The Alpine GTA or the Mazda for me, I saw one the other day in Woking lowered sitting on some tasteful alloys, what struck me was that it still looked good.

The Alpine is a very good car add a bit of boost & they're properly quick, it's a tough one but I think the Mazda would swing it.

I wouldn't go for the Alpine purely because parts (especially interior trim) are an absolute nightmare to find.

I've been helping a mate restore one for quite a while now and it's been a real mission to find some bits. The replacement steering wheel came from Sicily - found on internet with all the attendant doubts whether it was a scam or not.......

The chassis is (to my uneducated mind) TVR-like with a thin tubular steel (rust-prone) structure over a composite body. We've had a lot of fun with that...

Plus everyone I've ever seen driving one looks like a '70's/'80's porn star.

Alfa 1600 GT Junior is a lovely car but quite pricy now. Look at a Giulia from the same period and you'll get a better-driving car and pay less. smile

Lancia.

Why - have you seen them?! Boxy, wide body, date from crazy era of rallying plus loads of investment potential. Still look fantastic today.

How often will you be driving them as none of them seem like regular every day cars to me?!

Well I'm going to be no help at all - I'd like all of them, with the exception of the Allegro and TR3!

Welp it depends on the car I pick really but either one I pick I’ll drive relatively often except maybe the allegro,TR3 or alpine

Hehe well I don’t mind how I look in it plus the one I’m looking at had been recently fully restored over at RATS so I should have no problems for a while plus having lots of experience with tons of “specialist” cars from the 80s and 90s at my brothers shop should help with maintaining it too thumbup

With a list that long, I don't actually think you want any of them enough.

If it came down to 2 or 3, then it would be more feasible to make a choice, be that head or heart, but this just sounds like a long list of cars you vaguely like the appearance of.

A friend of mine is currently building a garage to house "his classic car and his classic motorbike". He hasn't a clue what either of those will be, he just wants a classic because it will look good (to him) in his garage, and because some of his friends own classic vehicles and he feels the need to keep up. I've told him, he should be building a garage to house "a classic Jaguar E-Type (amend as appropriate) which I've always loved and always wanted", not just anything over a certain age so that he can tell everyone he owns a classic car.

Yours may not be quite the situation above but I think you need to go and re-think then ask again.

Could do that but I absolutely hate letting anyone other than myself drive my cars unless I’m dying and unable to drive with my car being the best option to get to the hospital

I’ve spent 6 months thinking this list through and gone through thousands of cars singling out them out and singling them out further the cars I really want to get are the lancia and alpine but they’re huge gambles for me being the most expensive out em all hence the rest of this list of cars that I really love too but at a lower price range and I just made this post out of curiosity seeing which one out of em all gets picked the most here at PH and the outcome might impact my choice
