Hi folks, i posted here recently asking for suggestions for a used small-medium SUV which was easy to get my large and aged body in and out of the driving seat. The Honda CR-V was suggested and I've spotted several fairly local to me and I can get in and out with ease. Two problems with this are that they only seem to be 2 litre engines and the insurance is about £150 more. (My wife and I only do about 3,500 miles per year).
I have also seen a very nice 2007 Diahatsu Terios automatic with 55,000 on the clock for just under £5,000. I am very keen on this, but it occurred to me to question the wisdom of buying something which may be difficult to get parts for. Any suggestions please? Thanks.

Daihatsu are Toyota's small car division and statistically the most reliable vehicles on the planet. I wouldn't stress about it.

Thanks Baldchap, I have seen many glowing reviews of both Diahatsu in general and the Terios in particular, but apart from reliability, all cars are subject to being involved in accidents requiring body parts (at the very minimum) to be replaced. I have tried to speak to the parts dept at a Kia dealer (who seem to have some tie-up with Diatsu) but without any joy. Thanks.

Terioses (Teriosi? Terios’?) are not particularly big inside, and I’d imagine an auto would be glacially slow with poor economy for the size and performance. An extra £150 a year would be a small price to pay for the bigger size and assured parts availability of a CRV, and there’s a chance you’d have that back in economy benefits anyway.

They’re good cars and my friend loved his when he had one, but they might not be right for you. Are you able to go have a sit in one or a drive to get a feel for it?
