Audi TT 225 2003 for a grand?
Discussion
Does it seem a good buy?
Wasn't looking for one but one has comet up hat has sat around for a little while.
No MOT etc but has full Audi history etc.
In blue with blue leather.
Trying to knock him down a bit but he's holding out for a grand.
Has the BOSE and Xenons etc.
Started on the button and 4 new tyres.
Thinking of driving it round for a few weeks and selling it on!
Do they sell well?

They sell very well.
If you can get vagcom on it to see what it throws up.
At 1k its going to throw some up.
But worth that even if you strip it down.
I keep getting tempted by them but already owning a high miles 1.8T I know what the smalls things cost that need replacing due to lack of previous maintance, age and general ware(?)

Sat around for a while with no MOT you say!
Buy it for a grand and take a chance that to get it through the MOT will cost you another grand or more, or ask the seller to put it through an MOT and you will pay for it, if the seller uses the old lines..."i'm too busy/no time" etc there is a very good chance they know it will fail big and cost a small fortune to make it pass

I’m not sure if modifying cars is still a thing, but if so you used to get good money for pretty much all parts of TT’s as people stuffed them into Golf’s and Polo’s etc. so even as a shot to nothing you should at least break even.
What wheels has it got? A decent set with tyres is probably worth half the asking price alone!
For a grand I’d take it, I really like them.

Certainly can't complain!
Failed MOT on a rear coil spring and wipers.
Mrs (who specifically told me not to buy it!) broke down in it Friday.
As the FIL went to tow it it sprang into life and drove home fine.
Had 3 fault codes.
Start blocked by immobiliser.
Cam timing
Cranks sensor.
Cut out on me on the way to the garage. Noticed rev counter died, flickered then died.
So I replaced the crank sensor and all is fine.
The BOSE stereo was a let down, first it was so quiet it seemed only the tweeters were making a sound.
Then suddenly it came to life but was not impressed. Then it died off again.
I suspected amp or HU but was hoping it was the HU as it was something awful aftermarket thing.
When I pulled the HU out I saw a lone convertor for the BOSE amp instead of the pre-out adapter available now.
I tried a headhunter just incase and it suddenly sounded amazing!
So now it has a decent Sony with Bluetooth. I'm a sucker for OEM but I can't get too fond of the car.
It is growing on me, really didn't like it at first but beginning to. Definitely pushing me toward an S3 next. The practical side of the TT is non existent.
I purchased some pads, compound and polish to get cracking on it today and the rain has stopped that.
I've decided to give the wheels a refurb (doesn't take long when you do a set a week!) Just as they have been painted before and the paint is peeling.
The wheels need to come off to give it a service anyway.
Would red brake calipers put people off? Not sure whether to go red or just do them silver.
