Hi All,

Sorry if this has been posted before. I am looking at getting a VW scirocco 1.4 tsi gt in September for my second car. I will be getting second hand around 15/20k miles for about £13k. I will be doing very little miles, to work and back every day about 8 miles each way.

Has anyone on here got one or had one and had positive/negative experiences?

Seem like quite good value for money to me.
Cheers,

There’s two 1.4 Scirocco.

A 120bhp turbo which is pretty reliable. Then a 1.4 turbocharged supercharged engine giving about 160bhp which can throw a few issues.

Which are you looking at?

120hp one. As it's only a second car, insurance is reasonable on that one.

Here are some others worth a look:

Take a look at the Pro Cee'd in 1.0T & 1.6T (the 1.6T comes up with very sensible numbers insurance wise) in GT Line/GT Tech spec, both are just as capable dynamically as the Scirocco in (1.6T form it'll be better) you're looking at:

1.0T

Obviously you get a large amount of Warranty left on the Kia & around 2 years on the the Astra below,

They’re a decent car with good economy. Only a 5 speed gearbox I think.

Probably the Scirocco I would go for if I was in the market for one.

Thanks! The newer ones do have a 6 speed gearbox which is one of the selling points for me. I'm looking 16 plate ish seem to have decent fuel economy compared to say the astra which looks all round fairly similar.

They're very similar in terms fuel have a sit in both before deciding & take a look at the spec the Astra is generous spec wise.

I had a 1.4 (122) I brought from new a few years ago. I really liked the car and had zero issues, whenever I see one now, I still think they look good, even for an 8 year old design. A lot of the 122’s are (understandably since they were the base spec) a bit light on the equipment, I went a bit overboard on mine and used the £4k discount I got on list as an excuse to spec it up a bit, the 2.0’s came with more stuff as standard and are an even better drive, if you can stretch your budget a bit.

Thanks definitely need to test drive one but looking like it's perfect for me. The only thing putting me off 2.0l is the insurance for me
