Hi All;

As the title suggests I'm looking for a replacement for my 07 Civic Type R (FN2).
The car has been fun, although not quite what I expected from a CTR, however I've just grown to be not fond of the car, and can't justify the amount of fuel I put in the damn thing (even avoiding VTEC).

When I say all rounder I would love something that has a bit of zip, but gets me around or (hopefully) above the 40mpg average mark.
I'm pretty easy with suggestions, except it can't have a VW badge!
My budget is £4k, in an ideal world I'd get a Clio 220 EDC but my situation doesn't allow unfortunately!
Any suggestions welcome, thanks guys!

Hard when its 4k, 40mpg with performance and you remove the vag group cars, Should have a look at the Renaultsport Megane 175dci can remap to over 200hp with bucket loads of torque, amazing handling and pretty rare.

Having looked in this price range recently, I don't think you'll improve on the Civic. Maybe a Suzuki Swift Sport, albeit more bias towards economy than straight line performance.

I like the Mégane DCi, although have heard awful reliability compared to the Petrol renaultsports, could be worth a look though.
If I stopped being stubborn about VAGs would it open more options?
I really like the Ibiza Cupra DSG albeit it's a little out of budget.

For what its worth i have an fn2 (but i really like mine). The economy is ok. not great i get on average 26mpg out of mine with mainly town driving on short commutes.

I have also had a leon and i really like it. I had the newer shape 1.4 tsi for a short time as a loan car and it was great. Zippy. Good on fuel. Well equipped and spec'd for the car probably only being just above base level. I don't know though if you'd be able to get one in your budget. Certainly a decent car though on on the merits of that one i would maybe look at the Ibiza TSI FR ?

I second the dci Renaultsport my friend still has his with 163k on the clock it's been very reliable apart from two injectors, an A/C pump & a suspension refresh it's been on point.

That's the fear, I don't really want something faster, to be honest something a little slower will be okay. I learnt to drive in a normal swift and it was amazing, I really like the sport!

Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome car, however I do need to save a bit on insurance and fuel to contribute towards moving out!
Funny that, I've looked at that FR in the last week and have it in my 'saved cars' section on my Auto trader app, definitely an option.

Does sound alot more reliable than I first presumed. Looks like it's between that and the SSS. Both awesome cars but very different in the same way.
