My lease car is due to be returned in November. It was a two year non maintained lease. I got the first service done last November, do I need to get the next due service which will be the day after I hand it back? The leasing company was unsure and said it had to be serviced according to manufactures guidelines which is each year - so technically it's not me responsible as it won't be due!?

As it's due after you habd the car back then no you don't have to service it.

Always struck me as odd that this is so vague on lease cars. I can only assume they can't enforce it, otherwise they'd be more clear-cut about whether you need to have it done or not. On some cars it could be quite a lot of money.

I remember our 3yr work lease cars were on full maint contracts and we had to take them in for MOT just before they went back - I asked for a service at the same time on one as it was due and the lease company wouldn't authorise it. Dealer failed the MOT - I'm sure in a fit of pique!

Yes as long as you're not over then you're in the clear.

Thanks for that, worst case scenario they bill me for a service £140

I handed back my A4 in June. I had a BMW before it which was on 2 year service intervals, so I figured Audi would be the same. When I got the A4 I was told that it was annual servicing, so made my peace with it.

After a year I took it to the dealer next to my work who said "Oh it's not due yet" and showed me on the MMI that service was due in like 12000 miles and I was only doing 8k per year. At the end of the 2 year lease the BCA inspector just went into the MMI and saw "Service due in 5000 miles" and marked it as 'not due'. Never heard any more about it.
