As stated the question is currently hypothetical but may become reality sometime in the future.

Which would you choose out of these and also why?

Neither car wouldn't be regarded as investment tools, more along the lines of being well maintained and used.

Renault Turbo2, either a Maxi or a Maxi kit fitted after purchase,

or

Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 11.

Budget?....let's say set at £85K for buying and maybe a few more £k for further modifications, liveries etc.

Not yet, no.

The budget would be my potential maximum.

Is fitting a Maxi kit to a 5 Turbo going to devalue an original car ?

At the age now where that wouldn't be a consideration, you're probably right though.

No doubt what I've done to my V6 will have devalued it ( including using it and not worrying about the mileage )

I've only ever seen one road going Maxi in my entire life for sale, and that might've been a fake for all I know. Even if it was real I presumed it was a competition car that was never run. I'm not sure there is an actual road version.

If you found a real one it would be a vastly better investment due to sheer rarity. No idea how well they drive. I couldn't bring myself to mod a Turbo 1 or 2.

I've had loads of Integrales back in the day. Fine vehicles. Worth multiple tens of thousands? I sure as st would not hand over that type of money.

Indeed ,I've done this with my FIAT ,now worth about 1/5 what I paid for it 6 years ago.

Likewise I've only ever seen one in the metal and the maxi kit was retrofitted.

With regards to modifications, I mentioned earlier that, with officially becoming a pensioner next month, investment value is irrelevant. It would be more a case of buying a car and making it into exactly how I want it to be.

Values wouldn't drive the choice, having something I want drives the choice.

My current V6, and any other car that may get bought, would only go for sale when I'm cooling down in my jar on the mantlepiece so I wouldn't be overly bothered re values smile

So back to the original question.....which car, and why.

Not that I've ever driven one, but I'd go for a Turbo 1. It would have more of a sense of occasion overall. If I was going to Maxi something I'd get a Turbo 2 simply because there are so many more.

Deltas are great but I don't regard them as truly special in the same way.
