Yet another what car thread

Sorry for yet another of these threads.
I am getting to the stage of wondering what i will replace my r26 megane with. I am thinking of selling up at the start of the new year.
I want to go back to something like my mx5 (mk2.5 1.6) but not sure if I want another mx5. Not to keen on mr2's maybe an mg can't think of the model name. really want rear wheel drive and ideally at least 150hp. Considered a turbo mx5 but am far from convinced.
Basically I want cheap simple fun that I don't have to be doing 3 figure speeds to be enjoying myself but quick enough to get out of my own way.
Budget is about 4 grand. A bit flexible. Also considered a 350z but it's going to another car that i end up driving silly quick to get my kicks.
Practicality isn't a problem, single and no kids.
All ideas welcome, cheers.
