Recommendations on how to deal with poor car sale?
Discussion
Hi all, I really need some advice with my next steps.
I bought a 2011 Cayenne Hybrid from a "specialist" in luxury motor vehicles 4 weeks ago. Their stock is Lambos, Porsches, Bentley's, RR's etc and my Cayenne was one of their cheaper models. Their website states 100+ point check, 2 keys and accredited service history for every car they sell.
I'd been looking for a Hybrid, in black, with black interior and PASM for ages with no luck, until this car came up.
I picked it up and asked for the second key, which they said they would trace and send to me. I got home and realised the service book was missing from the leather wallet and raised this with them. (They had verbally told me about all the prior services before I bought it).
The day after I picked it up, the electronic parking brake fault lit up the dashboard, then the engine warning light came on. I booked it into the OPC to investigate and they have since found that there's a large oil leak from the engine and the locking wheel nut is missing.
The garage I bought it from has gone very silent. I was only given the warranty paperwork after really pushing for it and I'm still waiting for the warranty company to call me back.
I'm really saddened that I've fallen this unlucky. I wish I'd held out and bought from an OPC!
Should I go heavy or give them a chance to rectify the problems? If they cannot locate the service history, how much will this impact me financially?
The OPC are also stressing I should get the belts changed as there's no record of it.

I know this doesn't help, but why do so many people hand over their money before checking they are getting everything promised by the dealer?
Trust unfortunately. It’s why people didn’t double check with the cashier that their burgers didn’t contain horse meat. I’m guessing by most people’s standards this car wasn’t exactly cheap. You expect a garage selling top end cars to be honest as they aren’t likely to be fly by night cowboys.
Most of them probably are ok, op has likely been unlucky.
If they can't find the service history you'd want a fair amount off same with the key, speak to the warranty company (find out how much their labour rate is) & get things moving also put the company on notice that if the issues can't be repaired then you'll be looking to return the vehicle.
