Looking for a performance car (£25-35k)
Discussion
Hi guys,
New to this forum and just looking for a little bit of advice. Apologise if this is in the wrong place.
I have around £25-35k cash saved up for a car, already have an NA MX5 and a daily driver, so looking for a weekend toy/“investement”. Investment in quotes because I’m just looking for something I can enjoy but will potentially hold a steady value, or not fall super hard.
I have always wanted an RX7 and that’s what I have been saving towards, (RZ/Spritit R from Japan) but now that it’s coming close to the crunch I’m not as convinced as I once was!
Basically the shortlist is: RX7, NSX, Evora, Cayman. What would you guys do in my situation?

Slightly biased, but I'd say a 981 Cayman S. Should be an investment as it's the last flat 6 model and fun enough for a weekend car (as long as you'r not looking for more thrills than your MX5).
I do quite like Porsche, and it’s probably a little “snobby” of me, I just see them everywhere! I know that means they are a good choice because so many people pick them, I just want something maybe a little more unique/exclusive, which is why I looked to the evora. These are fun...and shouldn't depreciate too much (especially if you buy one cheaper than this one)

Slighly leftfield but what about this?

If you can stomach the potential running costs of a Tuscan then this should be good fun! Ticks the exclusivity box, and certainly cant see these dropping any lower in value. Also, V8 for the win!

What has dampened your RX7 enthusisam?
Hard to say really, probably a combination of the rotary (never owned one or driven one before), the buying sight unseen as I would really quite like an RZ or Spirit R which would most likely have to be sourced from Japan, or pay out a lot for one already in the UK. Maybe I need to man up a bit and just go for it!

I'd say get the RX-7 they're amazing cars:

my second choice would be a TVR Tuscan/Cerbera/T350:

I have a joint third as I've enjoyed driving both cars & they're great steers I'm not sure the Nissan is an investment piece but I don't think you'll shed money either, with the Lotus I'd try to get the S model but the N/A version is still a very good option.
I think the Lotus just edges it in terms of feeling that bit more special but the 370Z Nismo is a classy steer.

I would quite like a coupe F type, loved the look of that car for a while. The Nissan is nice, but I cant see it holding its value that well and it feels like quite a lot of money for a 370z. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mazda-rx7/223128160084?...

I think its pretty much going to be between the Evora and the RX7 to be honest. Thank you for all the links though, some great cars out there, sometimes its annoying to so spoilt for choice!
