ULEZ - A tricky what car/van
Discussion
Hi all,
I live within the ULEZ zone in London and have a set of specific requirements for my new car. I want to be able to take my motorcycle out of London alongside making the odd short inner-city journey (motorcycles including off-roaders so, no, I can't just ride!).
I'm considering a basic petrol run around (Suzuki Swift etc.) that I can use with a trailer as option 1. However, what I'd really like is a petrol van, post 2007 (or Euro 4) however it seems these don't exist. Diesel is out-ruled as I do a lot of short journeys and then only 1/2 long trips a month and worried about DPF. Diesel would also need to be 2016/17 onwards which is out of budget.
Is there such thing as a post-2007 petrol van that's big enough to carry 1/2 motorcycles? (Transit Connect etc. too small).
Thanks

Smallest would probably be a Nissan NV200, but these are diesel only AFAIK.
As you will know, with an off roader, the height is also a major factor. Some vans are long enough but not tall enough.
I run a F*at Doblo. The van version isn't big enough in either dimension, but I have a wheelchair access car that I can easily get my off roader in - and it has a fitted ramp making things very easy.
Take a look at a Renault Kangoo wheelchair car (WAV) to see if it fits the bill. They do a 1.4 petrol. 2 bikes may be a squeeze. I take out my front seat on the Dobby but I can get the bike in without.
A bonus is a WAV is classed as a car rather than a van, so cheaper to tax and no silly van speed limits.

Buy a Nissan Elgrand/Toyota Alphard & take the seats out, I'm assuming you have a bike ramp so entry & exit won't be an issue:
