I have a varied garage that ranges from McLaren to Cosworth. Currently selling my S1 Exige and looking to replace it with something big and powerful but have hit a brick wall when trying to choose between RS6/C63 AMG or BMW M series. I already own an early M3 and had thought either M5 or Alpina purely for continuation and that I’m a fan. However the RS6 sounds monstrous as does the Merc and they both look menacing. Still Unable to make the choice after much agonising. Is there anything else Estate or not that looks and sounds as menacing as these that I should look at or has anyone recently made a similar choice and could give me a nudge towards the best choice?

Alfa quadrifoglio.

No experience of them to own but they sound nice!

Have you driven them all yet? Which do you prefer?

Prefer the Audi for driving (just) but the looks and exhaust note of the Merc. The BMW options I have not driven. Trying to find an Alpina locally to drive. It is the interior spec that appeals to me in the Alpina’s

Wait until you drive the Alpina you'll find it surprising & a very sweet steer the hardest part will be to find one:

If you go for the M5 then the Competition pack models are the ones to look for

Foe me it would be the Alpina then the E63CLS63 followed by the M6 GC, also the four door coupes are worth a look at this price point:

Thank you for the leg work. Great advice and exactly my thoughts. I might stretch the budget a little (a lot) and try and find a B7. If not then the AMG is huge value for money at the minute.

Second that. By sounds of it you can afford to keep the exige and buy a runabout beastie.

BTW the last naturally aspirated C63 sounds glorious and seriously burns the hydrocarbons
