Help!

Ive grown tired of my 1.9 Tdi Golf and im now in the market for something that is going to put the fun back in to driving again.

Ive had a look through the classifieds but im after some recommendations from you lot.

Must be.

Less than 10k£

Reasonably economical say 30+++ Mpg

Suitable for driving around 12k Miles p/a

Preferably 2010 onwards

Petrol

Fun!

Fast-ish (so <9 sec 0-60)

Cheers !!

I've been toying with the idea of a mk3 2.0 Mx5 Folding hard top...

...But I'm having my doubts so keen for all to offer up some alternatives

Go for the softop. Less weight and still fine in the winter.

Depends if it's on the street. Hardtop is more secure and I stupidly snapped the rear window of my soft-top by putting the roof down from the drivers seat on mine.

I've always been turned off by the Clio, Its a bit too boy racer for me, as for the megane the styling just isn't for me.

Thanks for the suggestions its interesting to hear what people recommend.

Im changing my car in the next month so I want to get out and get some test drives in before I make a decision.

As for the Mx5 I park in a private (but open) car park some 20m from the house so security doesn't necessarily bother me. It was more the roof maintenance and cleaning that worried me. do they leak? go green? need upholstering at any point?

I had a softop car (Z4, might be an option for you) that lived outside and it was absolutely fine.

Have 370’s sunk below 10k? Or a HR engined 350. But it’ll be older than ‘10 and £500 tax, if that’s a deal breaker.

Ok, that means that all owners of soft-tops have never had an issue then?

What was your point? Mine is that it negates the risk by having a hardtop and yours is that you had no issues so what?
