Thinking of buying a Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSi DSG...
Discussion
Hi,
I'm about to change the two cars my wife and I drive; one needs to be fairly practical as getting a dog is on the horizon, whereas the second car will be a 2 seater (either a used Z4 or a Fiat 124).
I have been looking at a 2015/6 Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSi with the DSG box, in the higher spec SE L as it has lumbar support which is essential as I suffer from a bad back. I had thought of a new Dacia Duster (seats don't have lumbar support unfortunately), but the Yeti seems to satisfy most of our requirements. I would welcome any thoughts, especially from owners.
Thanks
Tim

How big a dog? They are a good car but the boot is small without folding the seats, even worse if you have a real spare tyre (they normally just come with a can of sealant)
We are looking at a Vizla, so not too big and there is only my wife and I.Thanks for all the comments; I just need to find one now!
We had a fancy trimmed “Monte Carlo” edition for about 2 years on a bargain lease deal.
I really liked it although my wife (who is a bit of a badge snob) was less keen.
Handled way better than expected (I remember the Evo reviews being quite complimentary when they first launched) and the engine was perfectly passable for day to day driving.
The DSG box was occasionally slow to kick down but it’s absolutely fine as far as ferrying kids around goes.
We managed with the boot (2 kids under 4 so prams) but was a bit tight if we went for a big shop too.
I’d happily have another as a general everyday family bus and it was perfectly reliable in the 2 years we had it.
Someone we know has two GR's and they fit in the back (they even fitted in his K11 micra he had before. If the dogs know they are going walkies, they will fit themselves into anything
).
Although it's got a reasonably firm ride, its still comfortable. Leather, Nav, xenons etc etc.
His is a 1.2 DSG and its quite nippy for what it is.
Worth getting a drive in one IMO.

I tried a Yeti. A bit too high for my liking. However, we did replace my wife’s old Ka with a Fabia, with a 1.2 TSi engine, still got it, very reliable, the engine and gearbox (5sp Manual) is very smooth, and the trim is very solid and rattle-free. I imagine the Yeti is similarly so.
My wife has a yeti and we have a large Vizsla and a medium sized lab cross. No issues whatsoever with boot space for them and they are more than comfortable with long trips to Scotland. We have a spare wheel and the raised boot floor kit with no issues.
She has a manual Adventure and overall,I really like driving it too.We seriously looked at a Dacia too,but the difference in interior quality (this was a couple of years ago) was apparent.
