Looking at this as first proper car for myself, 19 years old, looks good to me but heard its hard for tall people and im 6"4, just wanted to get some opinions before I go buy, I'd be getting a 30k mileage manufactorer approved 2010 model.

Spending £7000

Thanks

We've had one for a couple of years, it's a fun car with a bit of poke.

I'm similar height but carry most of my height in my torso, it's drivable for me but visibility can be an issue. If you're more tall in your legs than torso, I'd imagine you will be a bit better off than I am!

It's thrown a couple of bills our way this year, with the wiring for one of the rear lights going (Apparently they didn't factor in the wear to the wires from repeatedly opening and closing the boot!) And the dreaded multiair issue...

It might be worth getting a slightly later model, the early ones seem a bit more prone to the common issues and they didn't add an aux port for the radio until a bit after release.

Overall, we are very happy with it, it's a bit different and fun to drive

They regularly come bottom of what cars reliability surveys. The summary is the engines are strong but the electrics are an issue and can be time consuming and costly to fix.

I've sourced & supplied a fair few of these the cars are good but some of the main dealers are woeful which doesn't help in reliability surveys, I'd recommend one & have sourced them to family members, three years in & nothing has gone awry with either I'm 6'7 & fit in fine.

Veloce trim is the one to go for they also come in a more insurance friendly 120bhp form:

What car?
I wouldn’t believe in much they say, a publication so ridiculously biased towards VAG products they might as well be supplied in the dealerships.

Guiletta’s are pretty solid cars overall, not perfect, not much is, but they are as good as most European cars (and better than many) in terms of reliability.
Main niggle for me is the fact there is no space for clutch foot rest.
Not as roomy as the more boxy golf/focus, but I think they look much more interesting because of it so it depends where your priorities lie.

Yes, this is something to watch out for as a tall person, long motorway journeys can end up with you either hovering your foot over the pedal, or bashing your knee against the wheel!

While we have had a couple of issues, it seems fairly par for the course for an eight year old car. Worst part for me is not being able to replace the radio head unit easily with something that supports native Bluetooth
