Help cure a serial car buyer

I'm a bit tired of the yearly car swapping routine, rolleyes from the wife, putting up for sale, dealing with idiots etc. Do love the chase/research of the next one though...

Body style, seats, MPG, running costs not really important to a point. Budget is open as well - say up to 20k, but can stretch further.

Last few cars have been Alfa GTV V6, VXR8 and Abarth 500. Currently in a MK2 TT V6. So a real eclectic mix, but I like something with character and a following I can get involved in.

Currently on the radar are 987 Boxster and Maserati GranSport. Mustang and Giulia Veloce outside contenders (I think I will wait for these to depreciate more to be honest). I’d love a Grand Cherokee SRT in the future too and the dream is a GranTurismo.

Please help me find something I will keep for at least a few years and keep me (and the wife) happy.

Get the Gransport you won't regret it they're a great drive also if you want a Granturismo these are a great place to be while you're waiting for the 4.7 GT's to come into your price range.

As for your serial buying the cars above may not stop you looking but it may stop you buying.

It may stop me buying because it could bankrupt me you mean?

The clutch on these does worry me a little as it will be a stretch. Probably the only niggle I have.

Without knowing why you change them it will be impossible to suggest any keepers. Maybe you just need other hobbies and interests, so that you aren't looking at cars all the time. Either that or you need to own multiple cars.

Bangernomics is the way forward for you. £500 and you can get yourself a nice Peugeot 407 or if you’re feeling extra cool a Volvo V70 which has been around the planet 6 times.

Glad you noticed , running cost wise services will be between £650-1200.00 to service with a good independent.

The first car has already had the clutch replaced (& has the pearl paint which looks great in the sunshine) & comes with a Warranty (how good that warranty is, you'll only know when you see the details) so you should be able to keep your running costs sensible.

I certainly know what you mean. There is something 'parts bin special' about the rear lights and door handles. The rest though is superb.

Interesting question, I don't know really. Like I said I enjoy the chase and looking for the 'next big thing'.

I guess I need to find something I really 'get', so I don't feel the need to go looking.

I'm in Oz, but didn't really want to muddy the waters with that fact. It makes prices, servicing, parts availability and finding a specialist a little more difficult and costly, but I can deal with that.

I think theres no cure. Im the same but on a far greater scale. I tend to swap and change on average every 2 months!

The longest Ive owned a car is 6 months, the shortest is 2 weeks.

just get bored and love the variety of swapping and changing too much

Id say just crack on and go with your heart - unless it becomes a problem either financially or with the family.

Wow, yeah, you got it bad!

It's just become a hassle I don't need, changing plates, updating insurance, spending weekends viewing etc. Looking for something I will be happy with for at least 2-3 years.
