Looking for the above, parameters are :-

  • Must be petrol
  • Must not be a convertible version of a saloon or hatch (eg, not an A3 convertible)
  • Must be auto
  • Two seater or 2+2 at a push, but would prefer 2 seater
  • New or nearly new with low miles (2018)
  • Reasonably quick
  • Must be relatively small. Not the size of a C Class Coupe or 3 series coupe
  • Budget up to £30K, ideally less
The two that spring to mind are :-
  • Mazda MX5 RF 2.0 auto (they dont do a full convertible MX5)
  • Toyota GT86
  • Nearly new 370Z GT, but these are v hard to get in an auto.
The Mazda is the front runner at the minute.

Said person doesnt like the M240i so its out, sadly.

Anything else that should be considered?

Thanks in advance smile

Yes it is. It's for my wife and it's been a firm no so far on the m240i. I will try to org a test drive of one though.

She wants something more distinct this time rather than another performance version of a standard car (has an a45)

Nearly new SLC200 should get in at around that price, maybe a 300 if willing to go a bit older.

I vote 240i though!

Abarth 124 auto - good call
Audi TT - had forgotten about those
BMW Z4 - not currently made. Has had one before so prob wouldnt go back to another
Mercedes SLC - drove one, didnt like it
Mustang - drove one, liked it but too big
Subaru BRZ - yes though the Toyota variant would probably trump it as we have a toyota dealer 4 miles away, but the Subaru dealer is 40 miles away.
Thank you smile

We drove an SLC a couple of months ago. really starting to feel its age and seemed expensive, even after discounts.

Can't say I disagree with that, the SLC refresh really didn't add much and I don't see there being a replacement. Still looks good though and the metal roof is a bonus despite the weight.

The 124 suggestion above is a good shout.

The people selling this one will transport it to you, I've dealt with them on numerous occasions & they're a good seller.

Thanks - That 370Z is in Belfast and not that far from us, so sounds good.

Will pass the info on.
