Is this V6 Kia Sportage any good?
Discussion
It's a Kia outside of it's 7 year warranty so it's lost the one thing that makes Kia's a good second hand buy.
Chuck in an engine that's unlikely to see the right side of 30 MPG and an asking price that will get you a newer and more economical Petrol Nissan Qashqai and I reckon the Sportage is priced optimistically.

£540 a year road tax....
23 mpg average (probably 15-18mpg round town)

And i think the engine isnt terribly powerful given its size and thirst.
Just 5 1/2 months MOT.
Also i dont think there were "good" in their day.
Plus its IMHO ugly.

Apologies - forgot the link but I see someone tracked it down!
Never noticed the 540 notes road tax, fair point about the MPG as well.
I'll go back to looking at some Honda CRV's again for my winter hack

What about a Nissan Qashqai 2.0i petrol?

Not really looked much into them tbh. Although when I did a lot seemed to be 2wd?What about a Nissan Qashqai 2.0i petrol?
Been looking about for about a month now and still not decided. This Honda is local though so going to see it later in the week if it's still there.

Do you really really need 4WD though? Even with bad weather a 2WD car with winter tyres will usually suffice.

As per your other thread, I would really stick to 3rd Gen CRVs. They are a huge leap forward in quality. Diesel will be less irritating to drive unless you don't mind the driving style of the Honda n/a petrol engines. I wouldn't be put off by a high mileage 3rd Gen CRV either.Been looking about for about a month now and still not decided. It's definitely worth checking the MOT history of any car you are interesting in though, it gives a good indication of how much the previous owner cared about their car. https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
I bought a Kia Sorento In April this year. Took it back a week later for a full refund. AWD system was faulty and was going to cost a minimum of £3k with a potential £6k+ bill depending on the transfer box and rear diff condition. It felt quite cheap inside also and the stereo was terrible. Good torque from the 2.2d but noisy. Easily a generation behind the CRV.

Ah - you didnt say 4WD was a requirement.

I've got an M4 which i'll be firing some winter tyres on to next week. Really just looking for a second barge for winter and the runs to the shops/tip/work and fancied something SUV 4x4. Do you really really need 4WD though? Even with bad weather a 2WD car with winter tyres will usually suffice.

That Sorento story gives me the fear! I take it the 3rd Gen would be 2007 on wards then like this one? It's definitely worth checking the MOT history of any car you are interesting in though, it gives a good indication of how much the previous owner cared about their car. https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

Was put off by the 187k mileage, but can see one here that is on 220,000 now so must be a decent diesel lump!

Yeah the front bumper is the quickest giveaway as it has that upturned smile.
You'll get much lower mileage if happy to go with lower spec, I just prefer to always get the highest spec. If it's just a winter chuckaround then I guess it doesn't really matter.
Have you also considered the Suzuki Grand Vitara? It's got low range also.
