Largish 5-seat MPV or SUV with front-row captains' seats?
Discussion
I'm looking for a newish (2016+) five-seater car which has front-row captains' seats and preferably three individually stowable and slidable seats in the second row. The front-row captains' seats are the more important of those criteria. Whether it's an SUV or large MPV isn't so important.
Someone else asked a similar question here before, but I don't want to go as big as the VW Caravelle/T5 if I can help it. Ideally I'd like something the size of a 10-year old Seat Alhambra or a Ford Galaxy or perhaps a little bit bigger but not much. At the moment I'm looking at the Mercedes Viano and the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect. The latter would be OK as I think it just about manages to look like a car, although I wouldn't say that about the Ford Tourneo Connect which looks like a Citroen Berlingo and doesn't cut the mustard aesthetically for me even if my standards aren't high. (I'm not sure why being a bit longer makes it look more like a car than a van, but to mind it does.) So my question is: can this Merc and this Ford actually have captains' seats in the front row? I've seen some people say of course they can't, because what would you do about the central console, etc., and you need a proper-size Transit for that, but some (old) Seat Alhambras have got front row captains' seats without the gear shift etc. being a problem.
Also are there any other models that people would recommend? Let's say not much smaller than the Galaxy or much larger than the above-mentioned Merc and Ford.
Many thanks in advance!
Michael

You've already answered your own question it has to be the Ford or Mercedes, if you can go older then the Nissan Elgrand/Toyota Alphard:

Thanks, but I'm still not sure whether the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect can have two captains' seats in the front row or three separate seats in the second row. (The full size Transit can have the front captains' seats, but that's far too big and vanny for my needs.)https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2014-14-NISSAN-ELGRAND-...

f:1I'll have a look at the Nissan Elgrand and Toyota Alphard.
