£15k fun second car
Discussion
I am thinking about getting a fun second car early next year. I want to do some European road trips, visit Le Mans and the ring init. I want it fairly comfortable so the mrs will come out init with me/ make the most of driving holidays.
I had an Elise for over 3 years. Good fun car but I would be surprised if the mrs came out init 10 times! She hated it said it was uncomfortable and a pain in the arse to get in/ out of! So would like something a bit more user friendly (or I’d get a caterham but this wouldn’t be suited to long trips so don’t thunk I’d get the most from it)
Only cars I can think of that quite fancy are Porsche 987 Cayman and Boxster. I think the Cayman edges it. I have read all about bore scoring/ ims bearings. Yes it is a worry but I suppose it’s the chance you take.
Thanks for any Porsche info/ suggestions

It seems you've weighed up the pros & cons, so I say go for the Cayman in S form.

What I'd consider worthy alternatives are these:
Z4M

Thanks!
I like the look of the Z4M but I drove my brothers E46 M3 and I didn’t like it at all. Good engine but other than that I didn’t like it. So guessing I would probably feel the same about a z4m.
370 is interesting I will look at them a bit more.
They're a good interesting alternative they're a bit heavier than the Cayman but are still a good steer if your close to the specialist Junction 17 they always have a good selection & are normally helpful.
