Volvo dealer reset service warning before having car checked
Discussion
I was looking to buy a 2013 Volvo V40 D3 here in Vienna today, I had prearranged an independent check with the OAMTC (Like the Austrian version of AA) where they would check the car over and provide a report for 60 euros, common here it seems.
Arrived sharp at 7am to collect the car, which I was previously told would be ready to go at 7am as I had limited time to get to OAMTC (Also booked at 7am but they allowed 10 mins extra time)
Was told 5 mins for car to be ready at dealer (which ended up between 15-20 mins...), noticed they were hooking it up on their computers so went into the garage to see what they were doing and it seems from my basic German reading skills all they did was reset the service reminder? Why would they do this and waste my time? My first thought was they were clearing fault codes, but it didn't seem like they did this unless I missed it on screen.
It meant I was late to get to OAMTC and missed my slot, so next available time is next week! Properly pissed off for wasting my time but really like the car and its a decent deal they offered, they have also taken into account messing up today.
The dealer said they could give me a contract that states anything found during the check next week will be fixed and it also comes with 1 year guarantee as well, so I may just try and push for a better deal due to today's issues and go ahead with it...
