Mercedes E-class coupe help

Hey up all.

After a while looking at S-class and E-class I think I've landed on the E-class coupe and wondered if anyone familiar with them would be able to help me pin it down a bit better.

I'm looking at the face lifted model, around 2014. I've been in a straight-6 diesel (2007 325d) for ages now, but a bit too stiff and lacking some trick bits so I'm after a wee upgrade to something comfier and techier, with emphasis on comfy.

All of the 3.0 diesels I've seen seem to be AMG sport versions - is there no 3.0 SE? I've heard that the adaptive suspension in the AMG is pretty damn soft when you're crusing, is this true and is it as soft as the SE?

I've heard the 2.1 diesel described as a little rattly, any opinions on this? Might it be noticeable moving from a 6 cylinder?

Does the coupe SE have same suspension as saloon SE or did they tighten it up on the coupe a little?

Also noticed that people whinge about the foot-operated handbrake but I can't imagine that bugging my happiness. I don't carry passengers often so the 3 door is fine as well I think.

I realise that a test drive would solve much of this but I'm not exactly in a metropolitan area so would be good to know when I travel that I'm aiming at the right versions.

Probably 10k a year, no petrol for me captain, diesel all the way for the DD.

Was in the same boat between these two, then made the mistake of testing the s500 coupe yesterday with magic ride, no way i can have anything else now, looking at £40k for a 2015.

E class on airmatic and jag xj were closest, New s7, new 5 on air, range rover dynamic not even close!

10k pa is well within the realms of petrol as the more economical choice? Especially in a nice coupe, the diesels are rather rattle (2.1) unsure on the 6, I went petrol for my 25k km p.a.

I did have a few new MB, foot brake is fine, press all the way for hold and tap the accelerator to go again, but they were 2017/2018; you won’t get the new dash in the 2014 either.

I think an e class coupe of that vintage isn’t actually an e class.

It’s a c class chassis in an e class frock.

The E Coupe is based on a larger C Class platform which is no bad thing, I can't recommend the 2.1 one when you have the option of the much better & better suited 3.0d engine.

The AMG Sport models are the one to look for, also try to get one with the panoramic roof it makes the cabin much more airy also look for the Ivory/Red interior cars as they also add to the ambiance in the car.

There's no SE on the facelift models (they didn't sell well on the previous generation) there's basically AMG Line or Sport models.

I have an E500 & can't fault it the foot brake is a non issue.

And the suspension on the AMG version was soft?

It's not soft I'd say it's firm but not true AMG levels but think along the lines of C43 which is AMG light.
