I'm looking for something to replace my Mini Cooper D now that my daily mileage has dropped massively.

I've had all sorts of hot hatches with the last being a 2017 Fiesta ST-3 Mountune. I'd have another but the seats gave me back ache and the interior's pretty dated and awkward to use, with buttons all over the place.

I've around £15K or so to spend and want something that's 18 months old max, ideally newer, with decent kit levels and 40+ mpg being achievable.

I've read a lot of good stuff about the 208 GTi. You can buy the prestige edition pretty much brand new for £15K or a smidge under. The kit's impressive and it's very economical.

What do you reckon? Anything else that offers the same mix of newness, economy and spec for the same sort of money?

Thanks,

Recently got a 208 GTi at the start of the month, engine seems strong and pulls well but does seem to drop off a bit towards the top of the rev range. It also seems quite unsettled on the road under hard acceleration (though i am on budget tyres that the last owner put on). Another thing i've noticed is that it looks extremely similar to base model 208's, which you may prefer but i find this annoying considering it's supposed to be the performance model.

Thanks.

I got a main dealer down to 14.5k for a brand new one this weekend but didn't pursue. Couldn't put my finger on what was missing. You're right, it looks no different to a 1.2 Crap Edition.

Oddly enough that's why I like mine. That said am a sort of blend into the background sort of guy.

I had a 1.2 208 for a year and loved it. £15k for a new one sounds like a great deal.

If you want a small hot hatch I would highly recommend a drive in an abarth 595 before you make a decision though.

I picked mine up yesterday. I got it for £14.8K and a really strong trade in deal, almost £1.5K more than most other main dealers were offering.

I saw the 'daily sales' whiteboard in the back of a glass office - 3 out of 7 days last weeks there was nothing, and the best was 4 cars.

I'm really happy with the car but can tell it's built down to a price. The door is catching a little on opening; I can see the paint's all rough around the catch area.

I think that's an excellent price for a brand new hot hatch, really good.

By most accounts a very very good car! Enjoy!
