Hi,

Brother purchased a 2012 car on Saturday for £10000 from a main dealership, car was sold with 12 months MOT, we arrived to collect the car Saturday and it had passed the MOT the day before but had 12 advisory issues, obviously we spoke to the salesman dealing with us and was told not a problem take the car away and we will pick it up and sort everything that is an advisory for him, he will get the service manager to call my brother on Monday to arrange collection etc etc.

Roll around Monday call comes in from the service guy saying that they won’t be collecting the car as it has no serious issues and they will send him a set of wiper blade.

I’ve attached the MOT advisory below:

My brother has called the dealership back after this to be told the salesman was off for two days, my brother is going on holiday tomorrow so the dealer manager is going to call me in the morning.

Obviously we wouldn’t of purchased the car with all these issues, how would you guys going about getting this done? I am quiet happy to reject the car but obviously I want to go about this the correct way and not come accross as a dick.

Thanks in advance

Surely he noticed the tyres were near the end of their life when he first viewed the car?

That’s shocking, I’m amazed that any dealer would even consider seeing a car out with that list of advisories.

Personally, as a car salesman, there’s no way I’d have taken delivery of it. Your £10k needs £500+ spending on it. Pretty stty.

Because we were informed that the car was going to fully sorted, I did state that above...

It’s the inner edge, you can’t see them

I get some of it. Not easy to check all that stuff.
Tyres though? Come on, thats a basic basic check,
I'd be looking to get the hidden stuff done - but pay for tyres myself.

So it basically needs new brakes and tyres all round. Should have taken that in to consideration during negotiations really depending on the car that lot could cost a grand.

The problem was the MOT was done the day before so when my brother viewed the car none of the MOT information was available just the previous which it passed without any advisory’s , the car was Put through the MOT on Friday afternoon and we were at the dealership at 845 Saturday morning when the MOT information was viewed.

It’s easy to say with hindsight, but you should have refused to take delivery. Foolish to have done it, but too late now!

If they refuse to do anything, a call to customer services is required really. Was it an AUC?

The car is a Audi and it was purchased from a VW main dealer and also comes with 3 months warranty so I believe it is a AUC car?

That’s not nice but more worrying is paying £10k for a 2012 Audi A1 with 49k miles. It’s a 6 year old posh Polo...

I’ve just found it, was sold by Autopoint? If so, it’s not AUC as they are Das Welt Auto and supplied by an actual VW dealership and get a 12m warranty.

Autopoint do say: ‘Our Parkway Autopoint 142 Point Check which follows the ‘Das Welt Auto’ checking scheme is carried out by our highly trained staff should offer you further peace of mind knowing that almost each and every feature in your next vehicle has been looked over for your safety and ease.’

Which either A, didn’t get done, or B, they think that alll the advisories meet their minimum requirements, in which case, you’re fked.

If it’s got a 3m warranty then it’s not an AUC, IMO anyway.
