Yesterday i brought a used car from stoneacre.
The MOT history mentioned a cracked wind screen.

I asked about this issue, and was told by the salesman that it has been replaced. It was dark and I didnt check.

But this morning, I saw it was there.

Can I take it back and get it fixed?

It shouldn't be an issue if you haven't bought the car?

By 'fixed' they might say that they had Gavin come out and inject his special resin into the break.

The standard of repair generally speaking is very low; the before and after may look the same (which means it wasn't repaired properly).

According to the OP they didn't say "fixed", they said, "replaced".

Assuming that stoneacre is a car dealer, and the crack is in the part of the windscreen swept by the wipers, then then have committed an offence by selling an unroadworthy vehicle. If they don't play ball, go to Trading Standards.

Since it was mentioned in the MOT history, I think it's fair to assume it wasn't in the area that makes it unroadworthy - unless it failed the MOT due to this, and the OP has bought a car with no MOT and a cracked windscreen......

Title should read - ‘car bought with crack in windshield’

Surely if you asked for a defect to be rectified, you would ask, and visibly check, if it had been.

He has checked, it hasn’t been rectified, it doesn’t matter that he didn’t immediately notice.

Chip or crack? If it's a crack and they don't play ball then next time it's dips below freezing pour some boiling water on it do it extends across the whole screen then take it back as then they will have to fix it.
I'd double check the position of the damage anyway even if it did pass the MOT as it may have expanded since it was done.

Did boiling water work for you?

Didn't need boiling water, got a small crack on the edge at Brands Hatch this spring and it spontaneously spread across the whole screen once the temperatures dropped at night

Cost me £60 to replace the screen with a replacement Pilkington which I thought wasn't too bad.
